Our Society
Our Society
The International Afro Society (I.A.S) is an organization that provides holistic wellness and educational programs to —Our Society— those who identify as a member of the Black community.
“Black is a word that is used to refer to people with features such as a wider nose, curly hair, and dark skin. Today, the word should no longer be used, as it also has connotations of racism, and links to colonialism and slavery. In a scientific context, the word cannot be used, either. It suggests that people have the same phenotype just because they “look very similar.” As an organization I.A.S is working towards initiatives to eliminate the stigmas, stereotypes, and connotations that have historically been associated with the systemic term “Black” to represent Our Society.
All I.A.S programs focus on fostering the socio-economic prosperity of individuals; by building capacity and efficacy in 8 Dimensions of Wellness: Mental, Physical, Education/Career, Environmental, Emotional, Social, Financial, Spiritual.
Please visit our office or contact us (links to address and contact page) to join the movement today for a stronger tomorrow. The time is now! To read more about how I.A.S is “Building a better tomorrow, one community at a time”, download our Strat Plan below.
